It’s Fall y’all
Summer had it’s fun, now it’s time for FALL! The colors, the cinnamon, the pumpkin spice (I don’t partake in the PSLs, but you all do you), the apples, the festivals…..it’s all……exhausting to keep track of!
Just like the summer, I have a little list to help you (and myself) keep track of ALL the things going on. I know I need a break from all of the political chitter chatter right now, and focusing on fests and pumpkin patches will do.
These events are from around the state….some a tad further than others, so if you want to make a “weekend” out of it, do it!
There are so many things…I won’t write descriptions of everything, but you can follow the links to their pages to see if it’s something you’d be interested in doing!
Turner’s Fresh Market in Waupaca: This Saturday (the 28th) starts their Fall Family Fun on the Farm 10am-4pm! Hayrides, pumpkin patch picking, live music, corn maze, what else could you ask for? They also do pumpkin catapulting in October, but I’m not sure when that is! Keep you eyes open…..it’s awesome!
Rock Ridge Orchard in Edgar: Mums, cider, donuts…..why am I not there now?
Feltz’s Dairy Store
Arnold’s Aisles of Horror Corn Maze….I haven’t been to this, but I’ll most likely leave my kids at home, because I like to sleep at night.
LIT 4 - That’s this weekend!! I love this event….I may or may not have gotten my family lost in the dark, in the woods at this event, by making a wrong turn….but my regular compass is as askew as my moral compass, so whatever. It’s at the Sculpture park, this Saturday, the 28th from 8-10pm. If I can move after my half marathon in the morning, we will definitely be going!
Helene’s Hilltop Orchard - If you haven’t been, it’s super cute with a big area for the kids to play on different farm equipment and several other different activities for everyone to enjoy. It’s a little bit of a haul to Merrill, but you’ll spend the whole day, so not a big deal.
Standing Rocks - Go for a hike, go for a bike ride, whatever! It’s a great place to see the fall colors.
Lonely Oaks Brunch on the Farm - now that it’s getting a little cooler, sitting outside and waiting for your delicious quiche won’t be so sweltering!
Mulberry Lane Petting Farm - this is on my list for the summer AND fall because what else would you want besides a pumpkin patch AND to pet and hold baby farm animals?? Win-win-win! (it’s also where one of my favorite pictures of Jameson came from *below)
Okay! What else is going on??? A bunch! So let’s get through these, shall we?
Waldvogel’s - With 80+ attractions and over 90 acres to play, it’s Wisconsin’s largest pumpkin farm. We went last year, it’s in Juneau, so some planning is involved…..but whoa! The kids had a blast and passed right out on the way home. Definitely something to try once.
Central Waters Brewery - a beer flight? a fire pit? Don’t mind if I do :)
Point Brewery - they have soda flights in addition to beer AND their brand-spankin’ new taproom is fabulous!!
Sentryworld’s Close the Course - a great 2.5 mile or 5 mile run to close the golf course for the season. This year it’s on October 6th.
Schmeeckle Candlelight Hike - November 1st from 6-9pm.
Empty Bowls - at SPASH October 19th from 11am-2pm. Great event with AMAZING soup and sweet hand painted bowls by students. We have quite a few in our pantry.
Warren’s Cranberry Festival - THIS WEEKEND! Happening NOW
Door County is BOOMING with activities!!!! I have to say, I haven’t been to any of these, but I plan on adding one or two to this year and next!
Sister Bay Fall Fest - October 18-20
Egg Harbor Pumpkin Patch Festival - October 12-13
Washington Island Cider Pressing Party - October 12-13
Fall Door County Lighthouse Festival - October 4-6
Fish Creek Jack-o-lantern days - October 25-26
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted.
I’ll be running my first ever Half Marathon at the Wonderful Water Run tomorrow and then hopefully heading to LIT 4 in the evening. I’m nervous and excited. Depending on how this run goes, Jon and I will most likely sign up for the Hot Cider Hustle half marathon in Green Bay or the Madison Half in November……we’ve become “those” people. If you’re also “those” people, let me know, and maybe we can sign up for silly runs together to get shirts and medals :). Either way, have a great start to the fall!
